Embark on a Tranquil Hike on the Adolf Munkel Trail

The trail that we hiked was +/- 9 km long and had an elevation gain of 400 metres. It will take you around 2-3 hours depending on your pace and the amount of breaks you take. We loved the tranquility of the hike, because at some points we were the only ones on the trail, feeling very magical. The trail offers a variety of terrain, from meadows to captivating forests, ensuring every step is a feast for the senses. As you traverse the path, be prepared to be mesmerized by panoramic views of the Dolomites that unfold before your eyes.

This is the route we followed:

  1. Zannes Car Park: The hike starts at Zannes Car Park and from here you take path 36 into the forest. As soon as the trail splits, we decided to take the path to the right heading to Glatsch Alm. Very soon you’ll get glimpses of the Geisler Mountain Group peaks. (Heading left also is an option, you’ll be walking more of the Adolf Munkel Trail if doing so) 🚗
  2. Glatsch Alm: At Glatsch Alm we turned left following the signs of Adolf Munkel Trail. This path leads you into the forest again and will soon become path number 35 – the Adolf Munkel Trail. Follow this trail and follow the signs heading to Gschnagenhardt Alm (path 36) 🌲
  3. Gschnagenhardt Alm: When reaching Gschnagenhardt Alm you can decide to relax for a bit, take some refreshments and soak up the beautiful surrounding or walk a bit further to another Alm – Geisler Alm/Odle Rifugio. Both Alms have perfect surroundings but at the latter you can enjoy laying on one of those popular wooden chairs with an amazing mountaineous backdrop 🌄🍺
  4. Geisler Alm: From Geisler Alm continue on path 36 and head back to Zannes Car Park. This last part of the trail is very tranquil and takes you through some wonderful foresty landscapes. Make sure to enjoy this last piece of beauty as well 🏞

Here you can find the route you can walk if you head left at the first step!
