This should definitely be on the list of world won This should definitely be on the list of world wonders if it were up to us! 🌍✨ The Iguazu Falls are nothing short of breathtaking! 😍

We explored both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, and each offered something special. While we loved both, the Brazilian side stole our hearts with its stunning panoramic views. From there, you can admire the full majesty of the falls from afar, and walking alongside one of the falls is an unreal experienceβ€”feeling the power and intensity of the water up close is absolutely thrilling! 🌊

For an extra adventure, we highly recommend the boat tour. Although a bit pricey, it's worth every penny for the laughter that comes with getting drenched by these wonderful Iguazu falls! πŸš€πŸ’¦

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· Buenos Aires πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· From the north of πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· Buenos Aires πŸ‡¦πŸ‡·

From the north of Argentina, we flew to the vibrant city of Buenos Aires. And what a lovely time we had there:

β–ͺ️City Center Strolls: wandered through the historic city center and visited Plaza Mayor, the main square of the city including the famous pink building Casa Rosada 🩷

β–ͺ️Colorful Neighborhood: visited El Caminito and got to experience the amazing and colorful tango-vibes of Argentina πŸ’ƒ

β–ͺ️Food o'clock: of course we had to try a good Argentian steak - Restaurant recommend: Parilla La Brigada (San Telmo) πŸ₯©

β–ͺ️Spooky visit: when in Buenos Aires a visit to La Recoleta Cemetery is a must. It is one of the most beautiful and impressive cemeteries in the world. It felt a bit like a little but spooky village πŸ•―

We loved the atmosphere in Buenos Aires, but as of today it is not the best location budgetwise. Tip: book your accommodation in the neighborhoods San Telmo or Palermo for a safe stay πŸ›

Next stop: Iguazu 🚎

1. Cute church in the center β›ͺ️
2. Valle de la Luna which we explored by bike 🚲
3. A salty rock πŸͺ¨
4. Salt lake with good views (Ojos de Salar & Laguna Tibenquinche) πŸ§‚
5. One of the few places on earth where you can float by the amount of salt in the water πŸ‘™
6. Stargazing (we did not see a lot of stars because of the brightness of the full moon) 🌝

If you want to witness the most amazing sunset ever, then get yourself a spot on the Uyuni Salt Flats Tour in Bolivia! πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄

The hightlights of the tour:
- seeing the special landscapes of the salt flats (of course) 😍
- playing with the optical illusions at the salt flats πŸ“Έ
- driving through surreal landscapes πŸ›»
- finding lots of flamingos in the middle of nowhere 🦩
- getting close to some big geysers πŸŒͺ
- having a hotspring-experience during sunrise in the most beautiful surrounding πŸ‘™

Be aware that you'll drive a lot during these multiple-day tours and that (at least for the lowbudget tour options) the jeeps are old and get flat tires easily, the food is not very tasty and you will sleep in dorms. But, the beauty of the landscapes make up for everything! ❀️

Huayna PotosΓ πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄πŸ”β›οΈ Climbing above Huayna PotosΓ πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄πŸ”β›οΈ

Climbing above 6.000m without any experience? We didn't know it was possible, but we had to try it out in La Paz. After thoroughly researching the safety and being influenced by seeing beautiful videos, we decided to step out of our comfort zone 🀩

The 3-Day Journey:

Day 1: Early pick-up, trying on the equipment, drive to base camp at 4.700m, have an iceclimb practice session - thrilling! πŸ§—β€β™€οΈ

Day 2: Hike to high camp at 5.200m carrying 15kg backpacks. The views already were stunning. After dinner, we went to bed early because the alarms were set at 00:00 ⏰️

Day 3: At 1am, we began our climb in complete darkness. The path was steep and snowy, feeling like true mountain climbing. With each step, the altitude made breathing harder, forcing us to take baby steps. Despite the cold and exhaustion, we pushed on. Around 6am, we reached the summit at 6.088m, after having enjoyed an amazing sunrise along the way. The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking, making every challenging step worth it (so thought Nolan, LoΓ―s already thought of having to walk all the way back... πŸ˜…). Luckily we finally could see the stunning terrain we had climbed in daylight during our way back ❄️

It was exhausting, but now we can proudly say we've been above 6,000m and experienced the beauty of ice climbing πŸŒ„

Would you step out your comfort zone and climb a mountain like this? πŸ”

La Paz πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄ A city that is located in a canyo La Paz πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄

A city that is located in a canyon at 3.600m above sealevel, being one of the most populated cities in Bolivia!

Here's what you can do in this city:

β˜‚οΈ - Walk through the city center and find the lovely decorated streets that are part of the Witches Market. Here you'll find souvenirs and typical Bolivian artifacts, such as llama fetuses (apparently they bring good luck)

🌝 - Find the crazy landscapes of Valle de la Luna or Valle de las Animas and pretend as if you are on a different planet (these pictures are from Valle de las Animas)

🚊 - Get yourself on one of the world's longest cable car systems and find out how immense La Paz actually is. The mountainous surroundings are insane (we thought the views from the silver cable car were the coolest)

πŸ₯Š - Buy tickets to visit a Cholita's Wrestling Game. For a little amount of money you'll have a quite hilarious night out. We didn't know it would get this serious (the free popcorn is a plus)

πŸ” - Climb up one of the snowpeaked mountains surrounding La Paz. We conquered Huayna Potosi and found ourselves at a height of 6.088m (will tell you more about it in our next post!)

Even though the city was quite chaotic with a lot of people, a lot of traffic and a lot of bad fumes, the landscapes and activities in and surrounding the city were amazing! 🀩

πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄ Welcome to Bolivia πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄ From Cusco i πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄ Welcome to Bolivia πŸ‡§πŸ‡΄

From Cusco in Peru we took a bus straight to Copacabana in Bolivia. We skipped the city of Puno in Peru, because we read and heard that Lake Titicaca would be more impressive from the Bolivian side. We doubt whether this is actually true to be honest... 🫣

What is Lake Titicaca?
▫️It is the highest navigable lake in the world (3.810m) 🌎
▫️It is on the border of Peru and Bolivia and is therefore shared between both countries πŸ—Ί
▫️It is the second largest lake in South America (8.300 km2) πŸ“
▫️It is known as the birthplace of the Inca's and as the beginning of the world β˜€οΈ

In Copacabana we took a boattrip to Isla del Sol to do some hiking. Unfortunately, it was not quite what we expected:

We hiked from the north of the island to the south, but the route was quite boring. The views over Lake Titicaca were pretty but did not change much. The landscapes were not that special either.

We hoped to encounter some Inca Ruins, because the island had played an important role in the origination of the Inca Empire, but we didn't find any.

Besides, we hoped to see some locals living in their traditional ways, but all we saw was pigs, donkeys and sheep (and one local asking for money to maintain the path).

After finishing the hike, the boats did not leave according to the schedule that was communicated to us in Copacabana.

All in all, maybe we had rather visited Lake Titicaca from the Peruvian side? πŸ€”πŸ˜³

The refreshing juice in the cute little jar on one of the lovely balconies in Copacabana made our day though πŸΉβ˜€οΈ

Wow, visiting the Rainbow Mountain in Peru was so Wow, visiting the Rainbow Mountain in Peru was so cool!! β›°οΈπŸŒˆπŸ¦™

We did not exactly know what to expect because of hearing both good and bad stories about the place. Maybe the fact that we did not have much expectations resulted in having a really big wow-feeling, and one of the best days in Peru. Not only were we amazed by the colours of the mountain, but also by the absolute incredible surroundings of the mountain! 😍

Our tips:

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Try to find a small group to share a taxi with instead of booking a tour. Try to be there at around 11am, because all the tour groups are returning to the cars at that time and you can enjoy the surroundings in tranquility! (and you don't have to get up at 4am πŸ˜‰)

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Try to have a look at the weather forecast and pick a sunny day. When the sun is shining, the colours of the mountain are at their best. We had a few clouds while visiting, but the views were still insane

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ The Rainbow Mountain is above 5.000m so make sure you are used to the height. Also, bring enough water and snacks so that you prevent yourself from getting altitude sickness

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Do not forget to visit the Red Valley that is close to the Rainbow Mountain. It costs you a little extra, but is totally worth the money (we had the place for our own and it was magical ✨️)

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Bring enough cash with you for the entrance fees, the funny picture with the alpacas, and maybe some snacks or souvenirs

Let us know if you want to find out more about this amazing place! β›°οΈπŸŒˆπŸ¦™
